Burger King vs Facebook
Facebook is unhappy with the Burger King application
Burger King used to offer a application that rewards Facebook users for deleting their friends.
«Burger King this week launched an application called the Whopper Sacrifice. Taking its name from the fast food company’s well-known burger, the Whopper Sacrifice rewards Facebook users who delete 10 of their online friends with a coupon for a free Whopper burger. The application can be downloaded from either Facebook or from the Whopper Sacrifice site.(computer world)»
Without any surprise facebook shut the application. Facebooks slogan: «connecting people» kind of lots its sense with this application. None the less, Burger King uses great marketing tactics. On a similar matter: “Unfriend” is Oxford Dictionary’s Word of the Year (2009).
The facebook app webpage now simply says: “Facebook has disabled the Whopper Sacrifice after your love for the Whopper sandwich proved to be stronger than 233,906 friendships.” WOW!
