Stephen Colbert vs Miracle Whip

Mayo

The Miracle Whip marketing team is genius. These past days, Stephen Colbert and Miracle Whip are at war. «Colbert took Miracle Whip to task and even made a competitive commercial on behalf of real mayonnaise just to rub condiment in Miracle Whip’s eye.»

Here is how it started:

Miracle Whips response is fantastic. Instead of ignoring the attacks of The Colbert Report here are their responses:

«Miracle Whip took out ads in newspapers today promising to buy every single commercial slot in tonight’s The Colbert Report on Comedy Central after Stephen Colbert mocked the alt-mayo in a October segment.»

The letter (a must see)

One of the Video ads on YouTube:

«We will not tone it down, Stephen»

At first, this specific «buzz» advertising campaign seemed like a good way to get lots of publicity on viral networks.

1benA2: I just saw this on TV, and its probably the dumbest fucking commercial I have ever seen. Mayo is not a lifestyle

davco9200: Uh, it’s a condiment not a lifestyle.?

BoneThugzNHarmony: tottaly rad commercial I’m going to go shoot myself now!

ragingkittai: Miracle Whip is in existence simply because somebody looked at mayo and said, “That shit is just too much. Let’s tone it down.”

I need to go kick a door down and scream or something.

On second thought, it maybe wasn’t the most brilliant strategy?
But… Kraft is also one of the country’s two main mayonnaise manufacturers…
